Description of Hells Hammer
First released in the UX-02 Starter Hells Hammer 3-70H as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Unique Line system on March 30th, 2024, Hells Hammer is a right-spin Balance type Blade.
Unique Line Blades feature resin launcher hooks instead of the regular metal ones seen on Basic Line Models. This is meant to increase Outward Weight Distribution, a trait that significantly improves stamina and attack potential.
While this Blade is labeled as Balance type, it has the three-sided agressive shape of Attack type Blades. Hells Hammer features three large main contact points slanting upward, creating Smash attacks according to the Japanese definition (downward attacks).
When used with Hexa, the gimmick of Hells Hammer is to strike the opposing Beyblade with Smash Attacks repeatedly, like a Hammer.
In reality, this Blade can make great use of this specific type of attacks. For example, it can be used in various combinations to destabilize Defense type combinations with ease. Players who do not necessarily want top tier components can have fun with this Blade. It is well balanced in spite of its agressive shape, making it easy to control in most combinations.
However, Hells Hammer weighs approximately 33 grams, making it outclassed by most Blades weighing 35/36 grams or more. Therefore, this Blade is too light to be used in a competitive environment.
Additionally, the contact points are so large that any Metal Coat versions of this Blade will lose paint very, very quickly.
Finally, it is worth noting that this Blade has two molds. The early mold of Hells Hammer could be launched with left spinning launchers, an issue Takara Tomy adressed with the release of a new mold. The second mold has an additional metal part, making it slightly heavier than the first one, by approximately 0,4/0,5 grams.
Final Thoughts
Hells Hammer has a great design, focusing on Smash attacks instead of the more common Upper attacks. Unfortunately, its lack of weight makes it outclassed by most Blades weighing 35 grams or more.
Therefore, this Blade is heavily outclassed for competitive use, although it can be a nice, enjoyable addition for collectors.
