Description of Bumper
First released in the CX-03 Perseus Dark B6-80W Booster as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Custom Line on March 29th, 2025, Bumper is an Assist Blade featuring an overall circular design.
Bumper is entirely made of plastic, featuring six sections meant to act as secondary contact points to support the Main Blade. These contact points are meant to “repel attacks from any direction” according to Takara Tomy, resulting in theory in increased defense.
However, Bumper is a fairly tall Assist Blade, and its shape gives little to no protection to the Ratchet, making it highly exposed, thus increasing Burst risk. This Assist Blade poor Burst resistance may force players to use Attack or Balance type Bits featuring a widened shaft (which increases Burst resistance), or the 9-60 Ratchet.
Additionally, the combination of plastic and metal contact points on CX Blades can make recoil feel more unpredictable.
Out of all the early Custom Line releases, Bumper may feel like the most difficult to play and experiment with, despite its interesting weight. Unfortunately, we could not find any interesting synergy using this Assist Blade, mainly due to its poor Burst Resistance.
Final Thoughts
With few Main Blade options to choose from, it is too early to find a competitive use to Bumper. This Assist Blade may even be the most difficult option to play with at the time of writing. However, it may be a nice addition for players willing to create Custom Line Stamina/Defense type combinations.
