Description of Samurai Saber
First released in the UX-09 Samurai Saber 2-70L Starter as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Unique Line system on November 2nd, 2024, Samurai Saber is a right-spin Attack type Blade.
Unique Line Blades feature resin launcher hooks instead of the regular metal ones seen on Basic Line Models. This is meant to increase Outward Weight Distribution, a trait that significantly improves stamina and attack potential.
Unique Line Beyblades also have a gimmick, usually based on all components synergy. This Blade can alternate between two different types of attacks : “Barrage” and “One Hit”. This change in attack style is possible thanks to two additional contact points able to come out of the Blade under the effect of centrifugal force.
In its “One Hit” mode, this Beyblade is supposed to inflict powerful attacks to knock the opposing Bey out, similarly to Dran Buster. The Barrage mode is meant to Burst the opposing Beyblade by repeatedly striking its Ratchet.
In reality, the additional contact points do not have any kind of spring mechanism. Both are loose and move freely, which means they will retract inside the Blade when colliding with the opposing Bey. As a result, these blades don’t add any significant attack potential to the combination. Therefore, instead of increasing attack potential, these two contact increase defense potential by mitigating collisions with the opposing Bey.
If considered as an Attack type Blade, Samurai Saber is outclassed by options such as Phoenix Wing or Aero Pegasus and Shark Scale. However, this Blade complex and hybrid profile can find niche use in anti-attack combinations. When played with Bits such as Taper, Kick or Unite, Samurai Saber can sustain and counter the high attack power of the aforementioned Blades. Furthermore, when combined with Level, it can also counter the popular Spin-Equalization combo Cobalt Dragoon 5-60 Elevate.
Final Thoughts
Samurai Saber is a complex Blade, mainly because of how it has been labelled. This Blade hybrid profile is actually closer to Balance type Blades.
While Samurai Saber will struggle to find a place in the meta game, it is a great Blade nonetheless. Therefore, it cannot be considered as a must have, although it is a great addition in any Beyblade X collection.
