Description of Shark Gill

First released with the CX-11 Emperor Might Deck Set as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Custom Line system on November 1st, 2025, Shark Gill is a right-spin Balance type Blade.

Shark Gill is a retool of the Shelter Drake Blade (Gill Shark in Hasbro). This means the overall shape and design are very similar to Shelter Drake, albeit with minor differences. Despite a very similar shape and design, this retool is lighter than the original version, with a difference of between 2 and 3 grams depending on the copy.

It features Shelter Drake’s signature shape, with two long, thin blades serving as the main contact points.

These two blades create an elliptical shape, and the lack of prominent contact points along its perimeter helps explain Takara Tomy’s official stats, which slightly emphasize Defense over Attack.

Its elliptical shape naturally generates increased movement and mobility. However, this means a combo built around Shark Gill can be somewhat unpredictable, exhibiting erratic behavior depending on the Bit used.

Although this Blade lacks aggressive contact points, its mobility doesn’t completely eliminate recoil. While not explicitly designed for Attack, Shark Gill can still score KOs with a decent amount of consistency.

Similarly, its relatively smooth perimeter won’t necessarily allow it to absorb incoming attacks by mitigating the recoil from an opposing Blade. Instead, Shark Gill relies more heavily on its counter-attack potential.

Unfortunately, the movement generated by its elliptical shape drains stamina faster than more conventional Blade shapes. On top of that, its light weight compared to the rest of the Beyblade X lineup—hovering between 29 and 30 grams—leaves Shark Gill struggling against top-tier meta picks and heavier Blades in general, as it lacks the sheer inertia needed to withstand heavy collisions.

Nevertheless, for casual players who don’t own Shelter Drake, this Blade can stand out thanks to a design that remains unique within Beyblade X, giving it a distinct identity, playstyle, and personality.

Final Thoughts

Shark Gill fits the Balance type profile perfectly: it doesn’t excel in any single area, but it doesn’t suffer from any major weaknesses either. Unfortunately, the significant weight gap compared to Shelter Drake makes Shark Gill less performant overall.

Although it is heavily outclassed for competitive play, its unique style remains fun to play for enthusiasts.
