Description of Zap
First released with the UX-14 Scorpio Spear 0-70 Zap Starter as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Unique Line system on April 26th, 2025, Zap (or Z) is a Balance type Bit.
Zap features 16 Gears, similarly to Accel, and a small ball-shaped tip, similar to the one seen on Point. Therefore, the overall design of Z can be reminiscent of Level, but its performances and behavior are very different.
Zap “Gimmick”
Similarly to Point, Z can start Battle with agressive movements, and progressively adopt a more stationary behavior as the Battle goes on. Z is far more extreme than Point, having 16 gears instead of the usual 12. This results in higher velocity during Xtreme Dash attacks, although it also drains stamina a lot more than traditional Gears.
Its small protruding tip is meant to add stamina when velocity drops, thus acting like a mode change. Zap behaves like a fast attack type in the early stages of the Battle, then “switches” to a Defense/Stamina Mode in the second half of the Battle.
Performances
The large diameter of Zap creates high levels of friction with the stadium floor, thus making it easier for the combination to ride the X-Line and perform Xtreme Dash attacks. Players may feel the need to tilt their launchers forward when playing Zap, a simple technique called “Rush Shoot” or “Banked Shoot”.
If launched flat, the 16 Gears of Zap will create fast Xtreme Dash attacks, at the cost of a high self knock-out risk and huge stamina losses. Unlike Level, which can be tamed and controlled, Z is far more unpredictable. This Bit typically starts Battles with a fairly erratic behavior, often skipping the X-Line when launched too hard. Moreover, the Z usually ends Battles with a circular movement pattern, albeit with very little stamina left.
While Z is one of the most agressive Balance type Bits, it seems to lack stamina when compared to other Bits such as Point.
Final Thoughts
Having poor stamina as well as high self knock-out risk, Zap is a very risky Balance type Bit. The high self knock-out risk may even become frustrating, especially for beginners. As such, this option may not be used by competitive players.
Therefore, while not a must-have, Zap is a nice addition in any Beyblade X collection, as it is the most agressive Balance type Bit at the time of writing.
