Description of Disk Ball

First released with the UX-03 Wizard Rod 5-70DB Starter as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Unique Line system on March 30th, 2024, Disk Ball (or DB) is a stamina type Bit.

Disk Ball, as its name suggests, is a variant of the popular Bit Ball, featuring the same ball-shaped tip with an added “Disc”, a circular guard on the upper part of the tip. Having the same hemispherical tip as Ball, DB has quite docile circular movement patterns, giving the combination a chance to dodge early strikes. However, a combination using DB may move outside of the center area and ride the X-Line when hard launched, resulting in huge stamina loss.

While Disk Ball is heavier than Ball, the added “Disc” doesn’t necessarily make it a safer option. The added circular guard can help to create decent LAD potential, although it comes at the detriment of raw stamina potential. Stability is a key gameplay mechanic in Beyblade X, and while DB could help in that regard, it tends to keep Beyblades tilted, preventing them to restabilize themselves. This is due to the fact that Disk Ball combinations will spin on their tip as well as the disc once it tilts and wobbles. Not only does that reduce stamina potential, it also exposes the combo to a higher Burst risk, leaving a side exposed to opposing Beyblade attacks.

Furthermore, because the term “High” is not included in this Bit’s name, players may miss on the fact that Disk Ball is by far the tallest Bit in Beyblade X at the time of writing. It is much taller than any existing “High” variant, being approximately 3mm taller than standard Bits. “High” variants are only 1mm above the standard height.

This tall height makes DB combinations exposed to a higher Burst risk and decreased stability.

Final Thoughts

While Ball is the most popular stamina option, Disk Ball is simply too tall to be used in a competitive environment. However, this could change in the future if tall combinations become more viable.

Therefore, this bit cannot be recommended to players interested in competitive gameplay, although it remains a nice addition for collectors.
