Description of Black Shell

First released with Black Shell 4-60D in the BX-35 Random Booster Vol. 4 as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Basic Line on on July 13th, 2024, Black Shell is a right-spin Defense type Blade.

Black Shell has an overall diamond shape, featuring 8 primary contact points. This Blade is fairly small, and light, with a weight of approximately 32,5 grams. This lack of weight results in poor to average stamina, and poor knock-out resistance as well.

Furthermore, the small size of Black Shell offers little protection to the Ratchet, slightly increasing Burst risk. Therefore, Black Shell has poor Defense potential ; this Blade is heavily outclassed for competitive use.

However, when played in a non competitive environment, the “Barrage” attacks created by the 8 primary contact points can create Burst Attack potential. Moreover, the main contact points can create recoil. While the recoil created by this Blade is not very efficient and reliable, it can result in sudden, brutal attacks. As a result, some players may find Black Shell more enjoyable in Attack/Balance type combinations, increasing Burst Resistance, as well as Burst Attack and Knock-Out potential.

Finally, as all Team Pendragon Blades, Black Shell is a reference to the team Bladebreakers from the Bakuten Shoot Generation. More precisely, this Blade is a reference to Draciel. Additionally, the Gear Chip has the Bakuten Shoot Beyblade logo, just like the other Team Pendragon Beyblades.

Final Thoughts

Featuring poor stamina and defense potential, Black Shell is heavily outclassed for competitive use. However, its unique style as well as its references to the Bakuten Shoot generation can make it a nice addition in any Beyblade X Collection.
