Description of Bound Spike

First released with Knight Mail 3-85BS from the UX-10 Customize Set U as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Unique Line system on November 2nd, 2024, Bound Spike (or BS) is a Defense type Bit.

As its name suggests, Bound Spike is a variant of Spike. BS features a very small, sharp tip barely protruding from a wider part. Therefore, when a BS combination tilts, or when launched at an angle, it can suddenly accelerate due to the increased friction.

As a result, BS can be quite unpredictable and difficult to control, often alternating between a stationary behavior (similar to Needle and Spike) and a more agressive one. While this behavior allows to create counter attacks, it can also result in fast destabilizations and knock-outs/self knock-outs.

Furthermore, Bound Spike has a gimmick. The shaft of this Bit is retractable, which is meant to cushion landing and attacks from above. In reality, the Bit can retract when landing, although its actual effect on defense is difficult to tell. Moreover, it makes the combination taller, thus decreasing Burst Resistance.

Since Bound Spike will not be retracted during the Battle, it makes any BS combination taller, thus easier to Burst and destabilize.

While BS may be fun and enjoyable for some players, its unpredictable behavior can also be frustrating.

Final Thoughts

Overall, despite its regular height, Bound Spike gimmick makes combinations taller, thus increasing burst risk. Furthermore, the accelerations it can create make it unpredictable, and may result in stamina losses and an increased Knock-Out risk.

Therefore, it cannot be recommended for competitive players.
