Description of the Valkyrie DB core

First released with the B-187 Savior Valkyrie Shot-7 Starter as part of the Dynamite Battle system on July 17th, 2021, Valkyrie is a right-spin DB core.

This DB Core features a “Bound attack” gimmick : a built-in spring mechanism that makes the whole layer bounce when struck by an opponent. When receiving a hit, there is a chance that the layer will be pushed back, activating the springs. The spring mechanism will propel the layer back in its original place, thus making the layer “bounce” and repel the opponent in the process.

While intended to work as an offensive tool, the “Bound attack” of Valkyrie tends to make attack combinations prone to bursts. When activated, the gimmick is pushing the layer in the locks direction, so hard hits will make the locks progression easier.

When used in stamina or defense combination, the “bound attack” gimmick proves to be useful, since it tends to absorb shocks and repel the opponent in the process.

With only two locks and coming with the “Bound attack” gimmick, Valkyrie doesn’t have the required burst resistance to be used in attack combinations. With that being said, Valkyrie has good stamina, so it can be used safely in defense and stamina combinations, with the “bound attack” gimmick used as solid defensive tool.

Final thoughts

Valkyrie is a great DB core for stamina and defense type combinations, but it is outclassed by Dragon. Dragon has the same gimmick, with a stronger spring mechanism, making the “Bound attacks” rebound more effective.

Therefore, Valkyrie is a great addition to any player’s collection, but not necessarily a must-have for competitive players.
