Description of Wizard Rod
First released with the UX-03 Wizard Rod 5-70DB Starter as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Unique Line system on March 30th, 2024, Wizard Rod is a right-spin Stamina type Blade.
Unique Line Blades feature resin launcher hooks instead of the regular metal ones seen on Basic Line Models. This is meant to increase Outward Weight Distribution, a trait that significantly improves stamina and attack potential.
Unique Line Beyblades also have a gimmick, usually based on all components synergy. Wizard Rod theme is based on high centrifugal force, being a wide, circular Blade, featuring five gaps on its perimeter.
This Blade is the widest available at the time of writing, increasing its stamina potential. It is still considered as one of the best Blades of the Beyblade X Generation. More than just a good component, Wizard Rod actually marked a huge shift in Beyblade X. Before its release, recoil-laden Blades such as Phoenix Wing and Hells Scythe were the most dominant for competitive use, pushing players to use Balance and Attack type combinations.
Just as Takara Tomy did in the past, generations tend to start with an emphasis on aggressiveness, with rewarding features for attack type combinations. Wizard Rod is a huge departure from this approach, allowing players to create safe and easy to use stamina type combinations again.
This Blade is indeed heavily used in tournaments, usually combined with the Ratchet 9-60 to mitigate Burst risk, although sometimes 3-60 can be seen instead.
The most popular Bit choice is Ball, although some players like to use Orb instead, allowing them to use Ball in another combo from their Deck.
Performances
This Blade performs so well in stamina type combinations that it is now banned in 1on1 Battles in official tournaments held by B4 (Takara Tomy). However, it is still allowed in 3on3 Battles.
Wizard Rod exhibits high stamina as well as good defense, being difficult to knock-out even with optimized attack type combinations. At the time of writing, Cobalt Dragoon 5-60 Elevate is the safest and most reliable counter to the aforementioned Wizard Rod 9-60 Ball combo.
Final Thoughts
Featuring high stamina, a decent weight and good defense, Wizard Rod is one of the best Beyblade X Blades available. As such, it can be considered as a must-have for collectors and competitive players alike.
