Description of 9-60 Ratchet

First released in the BX-23 Phoenix Wing 9-60GF Starter as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports system on December 10th, 2023, 9-60 (or Nine Sixty) is a Ratchet from the Beyblade X generation.

The number “9” refers to the number of blades along the Ratchet’s perimeter, which means that 9-60 has 9 blades. In Beyblade X, Ratchets blades are acting as weak points for burst attacks, therefore players have to make sure the blades of the ratchet are not too exposed. On 9-60, out of the 9 blades, 6 are barely protruding from the Ratchet, increasing burst-resistance.

Furthermore, the three larger blades on 9-60 can be aligned with Phoenix Wing contact points, which can increase attack potential. More specifically, all three Launcher Hooks are protruding on the Blade perimeter, creating an additional contact point on each wing. 9-60 blades can be lined up with these three additional contact points. It is worth noting that the three blades on 9-60 perimeter line up differently depending on how the Ratchet is positioned. Therefore, it is recommended to check the alignement of 9-60 blades and these contact points when assembling the combination.

Additionally, these three larger blades on 9-60 are small compared to the blades of 3-60 : approximately 4mm for 9-60 blades, while 3-60 blades are 7mm. With only three blades featuring a limited contact surface, burst-resistance is further increased. This makes 9-60 safer than both 3-60 and 4-60 Ratchets.

9-60 Ratchet Height

The number “60” refers to the Ratchet height, which in this case is 6 mm. This height is considered as “low”, meaning that this Ratchet can be used to easily strike opponents from below. Furthermore, the “60” height Ratchets have weaker locks than the “80” height Ratchets. However, the lower Ratchet being harder to strike, the lower height slightly mitigates this issue.

Final Thoughts

9-60 is a versatile Ratchet, which can be used in any type of combinations. With only 3 small blades (barely 4mm wide) this Ratchet highly mitigates burst risk, making it safer than 3-60 and 4-60.
