Description of Roar

First released with the B-186 Random Booster Volume 26 as part of the Dynamite Battle system on June 26th, 2021, Roar is a left-spin defense type blade, designed to prevent the combination from bursting.

Roar features a gimmick : it begins the battle in the four bladed “Counter Mode“, leaving four gaps between each blade (see the picture above). As the lock progresses during battle, the blade changes into the round “Defense Mode“, with plastic wings filling the four gaps, giving the blade a perfectly round shape.

Once the gimmick has been activated, hits against the plastic wings will only keep the lock in place, increasing the combination burst resistance even further. Roar’s gimmick can be triggered by anyone, child or adult, no strength is required to activate it. This gimmick will typically be seen when facing attack type combinations, which will hit Roar hard enough to make the lock progress until the plastic wings are deployed. See the pictures below for a look at both modes :

Final Thoughts

Roar is not necessarily a must-have for competitive players, since stamina combinations are usually preferred to defense type combos. If you don’t have enough competitive stamina blades, or if you simply want to bring a strong defense combination to a tournament, then Roar is a solid choice. Not only does it make a combination highly burst resistant, it also gives the combo decent spin-steal potential.
In a non-competitive environment, Roar is one of the best defense blades in the Dynamite Battle and Burst Ultimate systems, making it a great addition to any Beyblade collection.
