Description of Fox Brush J9-70GR
Released with the CX-06 Random Booster FoxBrush Select as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Custom Line system on May 17th, 2025, Fox Brush J9-70GR is a right-spin Attack type combination.
As all models from the Custom Line, it features customisable Blades, being made of three interchangeable parts : the Lock Chip, the Main Blade and the Assist Blade. As such, this Beyblade not only features the new Brush Main Blade, it also introduces the Assist Blade Jaggy, as well as Fox Lock Chip and Gear Rush Bit.
This stock combination is based around Kyubi’s theme, the nine-tailed fox from Chinese mythology, later adopted in Japanese culture as “kyubi no kitsune“. Brush and Jaggy both have nine contact points, and obviously 9-70 has nine protrusions.
This design makes this stock combination specialized in one specific type of attacks : Barrage attacks. Barrage attacks are continuous hits in rapid succession, created by a large number of contact points. These attacks do not carry the power of traditional attack Blades, although the consecutive strikes can help to inflict damage on the opposing Bey’s Ratchet, often resulting in Burst Finishes.
Furthermore, the nine contact points are aligned in three different angles, mixing upper, downward, and horizontal attacks, a fairly common design in Beyblade X, meant to destabilize the opposing Beyblade.
Additionally, these contact points have different shapes, lengths and weight, making Brush unbalanced. The lack of balance impedes on stamina, although it helps to create more mobility, making Fox Brush behavior quite unpredictable at times.
The stock combination comes with the new Gear Rush Bit, ensuring a traditional attack type behavior and helping this Bey to easily perform Xtreme Dash attacks. Overall, the unpredictable behavior of Fox Brush can be equally fun and frustrating, depending on players personal preferences.
Moreover, as with all Custom Line Beyblades, the addition of secondary contact points on the Assist Blade (entirely made of plastic) can make recoil feel quite unpredictable, sometimes resulting in a feeling of randomness.
How to Improve Fox Brush J9-70GR
Barrage attacks can be used in various ways, on any type of Bits. Some players like to use this kind of Blades in stationary combinations, using Bits such as Hexa, Under Needle or Wedge.
Players willing to stay close to the stock combo strong identity can replace Gear Rush with Bits such as Rush or Low Rush, and use 9-60 or 1-60 instead of 9-70. These modifications will lower the combination’s height, making it easier to strike the opposing Beyblade’s Ratchet and get a Burst Finish. This can be a way to make Brush and Jaggy Barrage attacks more efficient.
Finally, players frustrated with Brush imbalance can use Turn or Slash Assist Blades, combined with Bits such as Level and Kick. These options will add stamina to the combination, making it a bit easier to play.
Final Thoughts
Fox Brush J9-70GR is an average to good stock combination, due to its lack of raw attack power and stamina. However, it features additional components which could prove to be interesting for Custom Line Beyblades collectors.
Fox adds a Lock Chip option, albeit a purely cosmetic one. Both Brush and Jaggy add significant customization options to the CX Blades, and Gear Rush can be interesting for players looking for an agressive variant of Rush.
