Description of Metal Dimension Driver

First released with the B-196 Random Booster Vol. 28 as part of the Dynamite Battle system on March 19th, 2022, Metal Dimension is the “metal lock” version of the Dimension Performance Tip. Please read the notes and warning below.

This Driver features a round hollowed plastic tip, with a sharp rubber tip barely protruding from its center. Dimension also features a gimmick : the height of the tip can be changed, and the rubber tip can be exposed or retracted inside the plastic tip.

Players can manually change the height of the tip by rotating a ring located just above the tip. While rotating this ring, players can choose to keep the rubber tip exposed or retracted.

There are three heights, which means there are six modes, depending on the rubber tip setting, retracted or exposed.

However, the mechanism doesn’t create much resistance, which means this gimmick can change during battle. For example, players starting the battle with the rubber tip exposed will often finish the battle with this tip being retracted, and the height slightly changed.

Furthermore, Metal Dimension can be unpredictable and difficult to control, making it difficult to use in an attack oriented combo. Moreover, it lacks stamina potential, resulting in poor to average performances, depending on the Layer used.

Final Thoughts on Metal Dimension Driver

While Metal Dimension comes with different modes, allowing players to manually change the tip’s height, this gimmick isn’t very effective. Furthermore, it lacks aggressiveness, control, and stamina potential to be an interesting Driver.

Some players like this Driver in a non-competitive environment, but it is usually considered as difficult to enjoy.

Therefore, this Performance Tip is not a must have for competitive players. It can be recommended to collectors only.

Important notes about Metal Drivers

A Metal Driver features a lock made of metal instead of plastic. The metal adds weight and a stronger spring, which in theory increases burst resistance.

In reality, the metal tabs tend to slide over the layer’s teeth, potentially damaging the teeth in the process. Furthermore, in order to limit the unusual wear metal tabs are causing, the tabs have been shortened, which decreases burst resistance.

However, Metal Drivers can be useful and safely assembled on the Bahamut and Kerbeus DB cores, which are both featuring rubber slopes instead of plastic teeth. With these two DB cores players can benefit from Metal Drivers weight and burst resistance without any risk of damage or wear on your layer.

WARNING : Metal Performance Tips can cause damage and unusual wear on the Layer’s teeth, therefore it is recommend to avoid using those Drivers, unless players have the following options at their disposal :

1) The safest way to use a metal driver is on the rubber slopes of the Bahamut and Kerbeus DB cores.
2) The other option is to use them on the Double-Chassis from the Superking system. When combined to a Double-Chassis, the wear still seem to be a bit unusual and premature, but it remains very limited compared to single chassis and all the traditional Layers from the Beyblade Burst Generation.
