Description of Phoenix Rudder 9-70G
Released with UX-07 Phoenix Rudder Deck Set as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Unique Line system on August 10th, 2024, Phoenix Rudder 9-70 Glide is a right-spin Stamina type combination.
As all Unique Line models, this Beyblade features resin launcher hooks instead of the regular metal ones seen on Basic Line Models. This further increases Outward Weight Distribution, a characteristic that significantly improves stamina and attack potential.
Unique Line models also have a gimmick : Phoenix Rudder is designed to drain opposing Beyblades stamina thanks to the complex design of the Blade Phoenix Rudder and the stability of the Bit Glide.
In reality, the stock combination has decent Stamina potential, provided by the P.O.M. tip of Glide and the improved Outward Weight Distribution of the Blade. Moreover, the Blade features a trapezoidal shape, combining primary contact points made of metal, and auxiliary contact points made of plastic. This design creates destabilization potential.
However, as it is often the case with stock Stamina/Defense type combinations, this Beyblade has weaknesses. First of all, the Blade lacks weight, making it outclassed by top-tier Stamina type Blades. Furthermore, the Bit Glide has 16 gears instead of the standard 12, increasing knock-out/self knock-out risk. This risk is exacerbated by the low friction of P.O.M., which increases Stamina potential at the cost of knock-out resistance.
Additionally, Burst risk is slightly increased because of 9-70, making the combination 1mm taller than standard height combos. However, the small protrusions on 9-70 mitigate Burst risk, which makes the stock combination enjoyable despite its increased height.
How to Improve Phoenix Rudder
As mentioned above, the Blade Phoenix Rudder lacks weight, making it difficult to use in a competitive environment. However, popular Bits such as Ball or Free Ball can improve overall performances, increasing knock-out resistance.
Moreover, 9-70 can be replaced with 9-60 to improve Burst resistance.
It is also worth noting that Glide can used with some degree of success in spin-equalization combinations, although it is now outclassed by Elevate.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Phoenix Rudder 9-70G is an interesting Beyblade, thanks to the complex design of the Blade and the Bit . However, both Glide and Phoenix Rudder are heavily outclassed for competitive use.
Therefore, this Beyblade is a nice addition in any Beyblade X collection.
