Description of the Yard’ Driver
First released with the B-198 Random Booster Vol. 29 as part of the Burst Ultimate system on May 28th, 2022, Yard’ is the “dash” version of the Yard performance tip. See the complete article on the Yard driver here. The dash version of a driver has a stronger spring, increasing burst resistance significantly.
Yard’ features a free-spinning ball-shaped tip surrounded by a wide plastic ring. The free-spinning nature of the tip is intended to increase stamina and knock-out resistance. The plastic ring surrounding the tip is also intended to increase knock-out resistance by acting as brakes to prevent the Beyblade from being knocked-out. Furthermore, the ring is also intended to help the combination re-stabilize itself when struck.
In reality, the very short height of the base is causing a scraping risk, decreasing stamina potential instead of increasing knock-out resistance. The ring itself not being a free-spinning part, this driver does not benefit from its round base, which cannot create LAD potential.
Like other free-spinning components, the ball-shaped tip of Yard’ may rotate with more or less ease depending on the copy, affecting the performances of this driver significantly. On some copies of this driver, the ball can encounter resistance and remain stuck at certain points for a few seconds, preventing it from spinning freely.
When launched hard, the shape of the base combined with the free-spinning ball will create movement, allowing the combination to move in wide circles, thus evading or countering opposing Beyblades attacks.
Furthermore, the free-spinning nature of the tip tends to increase burst-resistance. However, in reality, the wider contact surface of the tip and its higher friction is cancelled by its free-rotating nature. This means that in spite of its higher friction levels, this tip does not increases knock-out resistance significantly.
Final Thoughts
Despite the added burst-resistance of the reinforced dash spring system, Yard’ is still outclassed by other free spinning Performance Tips such as Atomic’. Due to its poor stamina performances and its high scraping risk, this driver cannot be recommended in a competitive environment.
Therefore, this driver is not a must have, but it can be a nice addition in any player’s collection.
