Description of Gear Rush
First released with Fox Brush J9-70GR in the CX-06 Random Booster FoxBrush Select as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Custom Line on May 17th, 2025, Gear Rush (or GR) is an attack type Bit. It is the Gear variant of Rush. A “Gear” variant means that the Bit feature extended Gears, completely covering the tip itself, making it easier for the combination to ride the X-Line and perform Xtreme Dash attacks.
“GR” features a round, flat tip. The tip is not as wide as Flat and Low Flat, creating less friction with the stadium floor. Due to the perfectly flat shape of the tip, it has enough mobility and aggressiveness to ride the X-Line and perform Xtreme Dash attacks with ease. Like other attack type Bits, the shaft is wider, resulting in increased burst resistance.
Gear Rush “Gimmick”
However, the real particularity of Gear Rush is its gears design. When compared to Bits such as Gear Flat, Gear Rush features only ten gears, while most Bits have twelve gears. This unique design results in the combination riding the Xtreme Line with less speed, decreasing the acceleration and the raw attack power of the Xtreme Dash, while also mitigating stamina losses created by Xtreme Dash attacks.
Furthermore, the decreased acceleration also results in the combination being able to ride the X-Line more often and with more consistency.
Performances
When compared to Rush, as per usual with “Gear” variants, GR has a higher self Knock-Out risk as well as higher stamina drainage during Xtreme Dash attacks. It is worth noting that the extended Gears not only make Xtreme Dash attacks easier to perform, they also tend to make these attacks a bit faster, thus making the first attacks of the Battle a bit more powerful.
These characteristics usually make “Gear” variants outclassed for competitive use. However, many players who are not interested by the meta game and competitive gameplay do not necessarily enjoy playing Rush that much, due to its innate lack of speed during Xtreme Dash attacks. Therefore, with Rush and Low Rush being available, Gear Rush may not necessarily be highly interesting for competitive players, although it could be a nice alternative for those willing to have a more nervous, agressive variant of Rush.
Wear and Tear
It is worth noting that the repeated contacts between Rush and the X-Line may cause rapid, unusual wear on the tip and gears of this Bit. Therefore, both competitive and non-competitive players may need to have multiple copies of this Bit at their disposal.
Final Thoughts
Gear Rush may not be as effective as Rush and Low Rush for competitive use, mainly because of its decreased stamina, and higher self KO risk. However, the reduced number of gears still make GR a relatively safe Bit when compared to other Gear variants such as Gear Flat.
Additionally, the increased velocity of Xtreme Dash attacks may have a decent synergy with Blades lacking weight and inertia.
Therefore, Gear Rush is a nice addition in any Beyblade X collection.
