Description of Knight Mail 3-85BS

Released with the UX-10 Customize Set U as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Unique Line system on November 2nd, 2024, Knight Mail 3-85BS is a right-spin Defense type combination.

As all Unique Line models, this Beyblade features resin launcher hooks instead of the regular metal ones seen on Basic Line Models. This further increases Outward Weight Distribution, a characteristic that significantly improves stamina and attack potential. 

Unique Line models also have a gimmick : Knight Mail is meant to have great defense and stability against vertical attacks. The small metal balls located on the Blade Knight Mail are intended to change vertical weight distribution while moving, although it is difficult to see their efficiency in Battle. Moreover, this gimmick is further enhanced by the retractable Bit Bound Spike, meant to cushion attacks coming from above by retracting within the Ratchet.

Unfortunately, this Stock Combination can be frustrating and difficult to use. Equipped with a very tall Ratchet, 3-85, and a Defense type Bit, Knight Mail 3-85BS has poor Burst and Knock-Out Resistance.

In stamina match-ups, this Beyblade will also suffer from stamina losses, created by the sudden accelerations of Bound Spike.

However, while the stock combination can be difficult to enjoy, Knight Mail is an interesting Defense type Blade, albeit not highly competitive.

How to Improve Knight Mail

Since Bound Spike makes the combination taller in its default position, the priority for players willing to keep this Beyblade’s behavior is to replace 3-85 with a safer option, such as 9-60.

For a more predictable Defense type behavior, at the time of writing Wedge is probably the safest option. It was used during the Beyblade X World Championship in the following combinations : Knight Mail 3-60/9-60 Wedge. The popular Hexa will also provide a Defense/Stamina type behavior with an increased Burst Resistance.

For a counter-attack oriented combination, Kick and 7-60 are both great options.

Ratchets such as 1-60 and 3-60 may also be interesting in Attack oriented combinations, combined with Bits such as Rush, its low variant Low Rush and Level.

Finally, players willing to use Knight Mail in safe, stamina type combinations can use 9-60 with Bits such as Ball and Free Ball.

Overall, this stock combination has poor synergy : it is one of the tallest combinations released in Beyblade X, and it comes with a Defense type Bit that cannot mitigate Burst risk. Moreover, Bound Spike makes the combination even taller due to its gimmick.

However, Knight Mail is a decent Defense Type Blade, albeit outclassed by top tier options currently used in the meta game.

Therefore, this Beyblade is a nice addition in any Beyblade X collection.
