Description of Scorpio Spear 0-70 Zap

Released as a Starter as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Unique Line system on April 26th, 2025, Scorpio Spear 0-70 Zap is a right-spin balance type combination. This Starter comes with a Winder Launcher.

As all Unique Line models, this Beyblade features resin launcher hooks instead of the regular metal ones seen on Basic Line Models. This further increases Outward Weight Distribution, a characteristic that significantly improves stamina and attack potential.

Unique Line models also have a gimmick : Scorpio Spear features a movable sub-layer, which is activated when the Bit rotates. In its starting position, the sub layer fills the gaps between the Blade’s contact points, adding 3 additional plastic contact points ; this is the “Defense Mode”.

When a Scorpio Spear combination performs an Xtreme Dash attack, the Bit rotates and activates the gimmick, switching to “Attack mode” : the additional plastic blades will move below the main contact points, giving Scorpio Spear a three-sided shape.

This mode-change gimmick is typical of Balance type Beys, but this identity is strengthened by the style of the Bit, Zap. This Bit also has a kind of a mode change, combining 16 Gears to perform Xtreme Dash Attacks at high velocity, with a small ball-shaped tip in its center, thus allowing the combination to switch to a more stamina/defense type approach.

While we really enjoyed playing Scorpio Spear as a separate component in custom combinations, it is a heavy, recoil-laden Blade, resulting in many accidental knock-outs as well as self knock-outs when used in agressive combinations. Furthermore, the design of the Scorpio Spear Blade makes the 0-70 Ratchet quite exposed, thus decreasing Burst Resistance. Furthermore, Zap does not have high stamina potential, which can make this stock combination harder to play than other Balance type stock combinations.

How to Improve Scorpio Spear

As mentioned above, Scorpio Spear is a heavy, reliable and competitive Blade. However, it has a weakness : the added sub-layer makes the Blade taller, and leaves the Ratchet more exposed, reducing Burst Resistance. Therefore, even in a competitive Deck, 9-60 is a perfect choice to mitigate Burst risk and make Scorpio Spear safer to play. 3-60 may also be used with some degree of success, while 7-60 can make the combination heavier without increasing the combo’s height.

When it comes to the Bit, options such as Orb and Ball are always safe and competitive options, as well as Rush for a more agressive approach. However, with the way the gimmick works, relying on how and when the Bit rotates, we thought that Free Ball has great synergy with Scorpio Spear. FB usually mitigates Stamina losses during Xtreme Dash Attacks, but more importantly, it suppresses the resistance of the Bit rotating on the X-Line. If a Scorpio Spear combination rides the Xtreme-Line when in Attack Mode, the resistance of the Bit can have a negative impact on the combo’s overall performances.

Additionally, we were impressed by Kick, allowing a more agressive behavior.

Final Thoughts

This stock combination has average performances, the heavy weight of the Blade being held back by 0-70 Burst rate as well as Zap poor stamina.

However, this Starter can be considered as a “must-have” for competitive players and collectors alike, due to the great performances of the Scorpio Spear Blade, probably one of the Best Blades in Beyblade X at the time writing. See our complete video in the linked video down below.
