Description of Cobalt Dragoon
First released with the BX-34 Cobalt Dragoon 2-60C Starter as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports Basic Line system on July 13th, 2024, Cobalt Dragoon is a left-spin Attack type Blade.
This Blade has a four sided shape, featuring four agressive upward slanting contact points, meant to create upper attacks. Each contact point is divided in two sections, a smaller and a larger one. This design can help destabilize the opposing Beyblade to some degree.
Furthermore, some contact points are hollowed, making Cobalt Dragoon somewhat unbalanced. Due to its heavy weight (approximately 38 grams), shape and unbalanced weight distribution, this Blade has poor stamina and stability. Therefore, this Blade will struggle to maintain its posture when losing spin velocity in the latter stage of a Battle.
When used with a String Launcher, Cobalt Dragoon may lack velocity to inflict meaningful attacks. Being the only left-spin Blade at the time of writing, Cobalt Dragoon will create Spin-Steal, further reducing recoil and attack power.
However, when launched with a Winder Launcher, this Blade can inflict knock-outs and Burst finishes, even though attack is not its primary use.
This Blade is indeed heavily used in official B4 (Takara Tomy) tournaments, combined with the Ratchet 5-60, sometimes 1-60 and 7-60 . First used on Glide, players quickly picked Elevate, due to its high stability and LAD. This combination, Cobalt Dragoon 5-60 Elevate, can counter popular Blades such as Wizard Rod and Silver Wolf, or Phoenix Wing and Aero Pegasus.
At the time of writing, the best ways to counter Cobalt Dragoon 5-60 Elevate are :
– Using Elevate on pretty much any right-spin Blade
– Using Attack type Blades with Bits such as Level or Wall Ball to repel Cobalt Dragoon and keep a fair distance, preventing it from making use of Spin-Steal.
Final Thoughts
Being the only left-spin Blade in Beyblade X, Cobalt Dragoon is heavily used in tournaments as a reliable and consistent Wizard Rod and Silver Wolf slayer when paired with the Bit Elevate. As such, it is as a must-have for collectors and competitive players alike.
