Description of Zone’+X Driver

First released with the B-196-03 Random Booster Volume 28 as part of the Dynamite Battle system on March 19, 2022, Zone’+X is a balance type Performance Tip. For detailed informations about the normal version of this driver, see the complete Zone’ article.

The “Xceed Chip” or “X” is a chip compatible with the Zone’ and Xceed’ Performance Tips. It can be assembled and removed from both drivers.

Zone’+X features a sharp conical plastic tip barely protruding from a thin free-spinning plastic ring, surrounded by the metal disc of the “X” chip. “X” has a ridged perimeter, and it has a slightly conic shape divided in two levels, resulting in the plastic tip barely protruding out of the “X” chip. Furthermore, “X” will lock the plastic part in place, disabling free-spin on both Xceed’ and Zone’.

The added metal chip creates a second point of contact with the stadium, helping to keep the combination stable with limited stamina loss due to the low friction of metal.

However, the design of Zone’+X results in far more aggressive movement, making the combination very hard to control. Therefore, Zone’+X can work when launched with moderate power, but the sweet spot is hard to find. Launching a bit too hard will result in the combination going straight into the stadium’s walls, which implies a high risk of self-K.O. Additionally, the low friction of metal decreases knock-out resistance.

The fact that “X” disables free-spin creates more aggressiveness, resulting in this unpredictable behavior, and it decreases the stamina and LAD (Life After Death) potential of the combination. Zone’+X may feel slightly safer to launch in the wider DB standard stadium, where it can be used in attack type combinations.

Final Thoughts

Overall, “X” is a decent upgrade, but it disables Zone’ free-spinning nature and it proves to be very hard to control, limiting the number of scenarios where it can be used. Zone’+X is outclassed by other stamina Performance Tips from the Dynamite Battle and Burst Ultimate systems.

Furthermore, Zone’+Z is superior in terms of performances, and easier to control.

Therefore, Zone’+X is not a must have, but it can be a nice addition in any Beyblade Burst collection.
