Description of 4-80 Ratchet
First released in the BX-03 Wizard Arrow 4-80B Starter as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports system, 4-80 (or four eighty) is a Ratchet from the Beyblade X generation.
The number “4” refers to the number of blades along the Ratchet’s perimeter, so 4-80 has four blades. In Beyblade X, Ratchets blades are acting as weak points for burst attacks, therefore players have to make sure the blades of the ratchet are not too exposed.
Additionally, while 4-80 features more blades than 3-80, their contact surface is smaller : 5mm for 4-80 blades against 7mm for 3-80 blades.
The number “80” refers to the Ratchet height, which in this case is 8 mm. 4-80 features a stronger lock than 4-60, but its height makes it easier to strike from below. In spite of their stronger lock, “80” Ratchets tend to burst more often than “60” variants. Therefore, “80” Ratchets are usually used with attack/balance type Bits, featuring a wider shaft and increased burst-resistance.
Final Thoughts on the 4-80 Ratchet
This Ratchet may be a potential option in taller attack oriented combinations. Additionally 4-80 being easier to strike due to its taller height, 4-60 is a preferred option in stamina/defense combinations.
