Description of Dran Dagger
First released in the BX-20 Dran Dagger Deck Set as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports system on November 2nd, 2023, Dran Dagger is a right-spin attack Blade.
Dran Dagger has a circular yet aggressive shape, featuring six blades along its perimeter. The center part of the Blade features a dragon head exhaling fire.
The six blades are intended to create multiple attacks in quick succession. In reality, when compared to its predecessor Dran Sword, Dran Dagger has a fairly similar weight, being slightly heavier than its predecessor (although weight can vary depending on the copies). It features a bit more stamina potential but it also has less raw attack power and smash attack potential. When used in traditional attack type combinations, using Bits such as Taper (T) or Flat (F), this Blade does not hit as hard as Dran Sword or Shark Edge, making the first crucial strikes of the battle less powerful.
Therefore, this Blade tends to struggle a bit more than its predecessor against top tier Blades from the Xtreme Gear Sports system, such as Hells Scythe. Against top tier combinations using such Blades, Dran Dagger will most likely lose the battle but it is far from irrelevant, being able to score a good amount of points with consistency. A Blade such as Knight Shield can also mitigate the repeated attacks from Dran Dagger with relative ease.
Nonetheless, this Blade has enough attack potential to knock-out and burst most of the Blades that are not considered as highly competitive. Overall, this Blade is a strong option when used in mobile attack type combinations, but it lacks the pure smash attack power of Dran Sword and Shark Edge.
Use in stamina combinations
Furthermore, while the six blades do not create more raw smash attack power, this design seems to be interesting when used in more stamina oriented combinations. A semi-mobile behavior, using a Bit like Ball, works well with this Blade in various types of match-ups. However, using this Blade in such combinations increases burst risk and competitive players will certainly prefer Ball assembled with the Hells Scythe Blade.
When used in stationary combinations, with Bits such as Needle, High Needle, Orb or Spike, high-recoil Blades will often manage to burst the Dran Dagger combo, but the latter can also inflict high damage to opposing Beyblades with repeated attacks on their Ratchets.
The propensity of stationary combinations to tilt over early can become a strength with this Blade. When tilting toward the opposing Beyblade, the six blades of Dran Dagger seem to inflict a lot of damage to opposing Beyblade’s Ratchets, resulting in a lot of Burst Finishes. Therefore, launching at an angle may be useful, allowing the six blades to make contact with the opponent’s Ratchet early in the Battle.
Final Thoughts
Dran Dagger can struggle against top tier Blades from the Xtreme Gear Sports system, without being outclassed either. It features a unique and interesting design, which could make this Blade a fairly versatile option.
Furthermore, thanks to this design, there is a possibility that this Blade won’t suffer from wear as much as its predecessor Dran Sword.
Therefore, Dran Dagger is a great addition in any Beyblade collection.
