Released with the BX-16 Random Booster Viper Tail Select as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports system on October 7th, 2023 Viper Tail 5-80O is a right-spin stamina type combination. It is the Prize Beyblade from the BX-16 Random Booster, but it isn’t more difficult to get thanks to the new “Select” format. There is an equal chance of pulling any of the three Beyblades from this Random Booster.

The stock combination has a fairly stationary behavior, due to Orb, a stamina type Bit. The aggressive shape of the Viper Tail Blade can deliver powerful attacks to opposing Beyblades, but it also makes the combination suffer from its own recoil. Combined with the small diameter of Orb, this Blade’s recoil can result in the combo being suddenly pushed back or lifted from the stadium floor, increasing knock-out and destabilization risks.

This combination works well, since it can win against strong combinations but it struggles to do so with consistency. The recoil of the Blade makes the combo behave in a fairly unpredictable way. Depending on the opponent’s Beyblade, sometimes it will gently hit the opposing Beyblade for extended periods of time, sometimes it will repel it with force. Moreover, as mentioned above, while the Viper Tail Blade can strike the opposing combination hard, it can also be pushed back in the process as well.

Overall, this stock combo is a welcome addition. Its individual Parts, while not necessarily top tier, offer decent alternatives to some of the existing options.

How to Improve Viper Tail

So far, nothing indicates that the 5-80 Ratchet increases stamina potential. Moreover, the “80” height makes the combination easier to strike from below, increasing burst risk. Therefore, replacing 5-80 with popular choices such as 4-60 or 3-60 is a potential upgrade. However, further testing may reveal viable applications for 5-80 in the near future. Moreover, upcoming releases may feature Parts that could create more synergy with this Ratchet.

Orb can be replaced with Ball to increase stamina and stability, reducing knock-outs and destabilization risks. Furthermore, Needle and High Needle both have higher stamina potential than Orb, and these two Bits will preserve the original stationary behavior of the combination.

Additionally, the weight and aggressive shape of the Viper Tail Blade can be experimented with in attack oriented combinations, with Bits such as Low Flat, Flat or Taper for more stamina.

The Orb Bit decent stamina potential and docile behavior can be an alternative for stationary combinations. For example, it can be used in stationary combos using attack Blades such as Dran Sword or Shark Edge.

This stock combination features three new parts, offering players new options and alternatives to experiment with. Therefore, Viper Tail 5-80O is a nice addition in any Beyblade collection.
