Description of Taper
First released in the BX-02 Hells Scythe 4-60T Starter as part of the Xtreme Gear Sports system, Taper (or T) is a balance type Bit, the first Balance Bit released in the Beyblade X Generation.
“T” features a narrow circular flat tip with a shallow indentation. The tip angles upwards from the centre, creating a second contact point.
This design is intended to create enough mobility to ride the X-Line, while retaining a decent amount of stamina compared to attack type Bits. Furthermore, the shaft of this Bit is wider, resulting in increased burst resistance.
In reality, Taper does exactly what it was intended for. It truly delivers a balance type identity, by creating aggressive movements while offering more control and stamina than pure attack type Bits such as Flat or Low Flat. However, “T”does not feature the speed and aggressiveness of such tips.
Overall, “T” features enough mobility to be used with attack oriented Blades, and its high stamina potential, compared to Bits such as Flat or Low Flat, make it a safer option in attack type combinations.
Taper used to be a top tier option, often used with Blades such as Dran Sword and Phoenix Wing or Dran Buster for example. However, it became outclassed by Bits such as Rush and Low Rush for competitive use. At the time of writing, Kick is usually the preferred Balance type Bit in official Beyblade X tournaments.
Final Thoughts
Being a true jack of all trades, master of none, Taper successfully delivers the attributes of a balance type Bit. As such, it is a great alternative to pure attack type Bits, when more control and stamina are required.
While this Bit used to be a top tier option in the early days of Beyblade X, it is now outclassed by other Bits such as Rush and Low Rush for competitive use.
Therefore, Taper is a nice addition in any Beyblade X collection.
